Oprah Winfrey shares tribute message for Black History Month.

Oprah Winfrey shares tribute message in a selfie video to 1.5 million Oprah Magazine Instagram followers, marking the start of Black History Month.

In the post Oprah said, “I have a wonderful phrase that Maya Angelou wrote in one of her poems. It said ‘I come as one, but I stand as 10,000.’ I’m doing that right now. I don’t reserve it for one month. I believe that Black history is a part of every day, every life, every year, all the time.”

Black History Month 2021 runs in the US from Monday, February 1, until Monday, March 1.

The national theme for Black History Month 2021 is The Black Family: Representation, Identity, and Diversity.

This is according to the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH), founders of Black History Month.

In the UK it is celebrated in the month of October.
